A Family that Grows Together
Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God.
KICK OFF SEPTEMBER 9, 2018
At South, we believe that intentional relationships are essential for a growing and active faith. Jesus encourages us in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
The mission of our LIFE Groups at South is to inspire Christ-like change through loving relationships. By establishing deeper relationships in a warm and safe environment you will be able to reach your full potential in Christ. The Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation.
Small groups of Jesus followers meet throughout the Baton Rouge area in homes and various locations to study, pray, share a meal, and engage in LIFE with each other.

This fall, flexible-format Life Groups will be launched to meet the needs of South’s members. Look for the Life Group Survey from July 29 - August 12 and plan to participate. THANK YOU if you are already an active participant in a Life Group. Otherwise, this is an excellent opportunity to re-engage or to try Life Groups for the first time.
The South Baton Rouge Church of Christ Kingdom Vision 2030 identifies “Radically Pursuing Community” as a key area:
Our aim and hope is for everyone to experience authentic community and deeper spiritual relationships. We desire to embody and celebrate the reconciliation of the gospel and the unity of the Spirit, and to display it as a people of varied backgrounds and races united in Christ. We want to passionately pursue being a community of love, mercy, repentance, forgiveness, and grace.
South’s small group ministry, known as “Life Groups,” pursues Christian community and deep spiritual friendships. Through Life Groups, we enjoy the beautiful, ancient practice of Christian hospitality. Together, we grow to become more Christ-like.
In May, Kin hosted two focus groups that considered the following questions:
- What positive things are happening in your small group?
- What are some of the challenges for small groups?
- How can we improve small groups?
These sessions yielded enormously helpful insights and suggestions. One of the main outcomes is that more flexible Life Group formats are needed. Kin has put together a Life Group Support Team to study this feedback, incorporate it, and make adjustments to better meet the current needs of South’s members. This group has been working during the summer and will launch a survey on July 29 running through August 12 requesting information from members. The aim is to help match people with Life Groups based on interests and priorities, as well as to identify Life Group leaders and hosts. We appreciate your patience as we experiment with small changes to Life Groups to increase overall engagement.
If you have not found a Life Group yet, or if you are now at a point in life where you can participate, this is a great time to re-engage.
